A canonical is the tag that tells search engines “this is the authoritative URL” when the same content exists at more than one URL.

A 301 redirect is a forwarding setting that tells search engines a page has moved permanently; it is essential for carrying SEO value across a site renewal.

sitemap.xml is the file that tells search engines every page on the site, preventing pages from being missed during crawling.

LLMO / GEOGenerative Engine Optimization

LLMO (GEO) is optimization aimed at getting generative AI such as ChatGPT to quote and reference your information when it composes an answer, and it is called “SEO for the AI era”.

Typical measures include one-sentence definitions that are easy to quote, structured data, and publishing an llms.txt file.
