Custom Coded Website (Full-Scratch): 7 Things You Get
Full-scratch website — what it means
A full-scratch website is a custom coded site designed from zero in Figma without templates and delivered as a full codebase (Astro or Next.js, or Webflow). At Webharu we build SEO, forms and email infrastructure, a CMS, analytics and monitoring into it as one piece, build it with AI (Claude Code), and deliver from ¥1,000,000 (excl. tax) in about 1.5 to 2 months.

Hello, this is Masato from Webharu.

A full-scratch website is a site designed from zero in Figma without templates, and delivered as a full codebase (Astro or Next.js, or Webflow). It is not only about how it looks. It is built so that people find it in search, enquiries arrive, you can update it in-house, the numbers are visible, it does not break, and you can add to it — all in one piece. At Webharu we build it with AI (Claude Code).

This article covers only what a full-scratch website makes possible. How we build it is not written up here, because publishing the process invites imitation, so it goes out in the corporate AI adoption manual (Japanese) and in the newsletter (closed). A full-stack website, which also runs members, bookings and payments, is a separate article, and we have written up the difference between the two as well.

What is a full-scratch website? A site handed over ready to grow, not just finished

A website quote usually lists design and the number of pages. What actually matters after launch is the back of the house: where the form sends to, the settings that keep your email out of the spam folder, the way updates get made, the measurement of traffic and enquiries, and the monitoring that tells you nothing is broken. When all of that is designed from zero without templates and built as one piece, I call it a full-scratch website.

Seven things a full-scratch website makes possible: building the brand properly, being found in search, enquiries that do not vanish, updating in-house, seeing the numbers, not breaking, and being able to add to it.
Seven things a full-scratch website makes possible

The visual design is one of those seven. Put the other way round: a site that is only good-looking is usually missing the other six. In the next section I go through them one at a time and say what actually happens.

Seven things a full-scratch website makes possible

1. You can build the brand properly

We use no templates. We design from zero in Figma, implement it in a BEM structure so it does not fall apart, and hand it over with a style guide. It is a way of building for companies that want out of looking mass-produced.

2. People find you in search

SEO, AI search (AIO) support and structured data go in at launch. They are not things to bolt on later. As a real example, New Paint, a painting specialist in Miyagi, moved from Webflow to our own platform in a full renewal and took the number one search result for “塩竃 外壁塗装” (exterior painting in Shiogama) eight days after launch.

3. Enquiries do not vanish

Form submissions are relayed to our own email infrastructure, and we set up sender domain authentication (SPF, DKIM and DMARC). The point is to close off “the enquiry was there all along, sitting in the spam folder” from day one.

4. You can update it in-house

We hand over a CMS together with an AI update handbook for instructing AI to make changes. News posts and blog articles can both be run internally. Articles can be written alongside AI, so a few a month need not be outsourced.

5. You can see the numbers

We install GA4 and conversion tracking (enquiries and phone calls), and set it up so traffic arriving via AI such as ChatGPT and Perplexity can be seen separately. If you hand operations to us, the monthly report covers traffic, search queries, conversions and AI-referred traffic, and we keep going through to the fixes.

6. It does not break and it does not go down

After launch, automated monitoring runs every day and catches missing redirects or measurement that has stopped. Quality is confirmed by third-party scoring. Measured on our own site: SSL Labs A+, Mozilla Observatory A+, and Lighthouse 100 for accessibility, best practices and SEO (as of July 2026).

7. You can add to it

Other languages, campaign landing pages and seasonal pages can be added at close to zero extra cost. The Korean version of our own site — something we used to run for $9 a month back in the Webflow days — was rebuilt for ¥0 in extra cost. New Paint’s Obon holiday campaign landing page went from concept to launch in one day. And when a working mechanism such as members, bookings or payments becomes necessary, the same code extends into a full-stack website.

If you are considering Webflow | how a full-scratch website (AI vibe coding) differs

I have spent six years specializing in Webflow, so I know what is good about it. You edit what you see, and the site does not fall apart when left alone. On top of that, from 2026 the practice of having AI write the code — vibe coding — became practical, so it is now something I can offer as an alternative to people considering Webflow. A full-scratch build can be delivered either as code or in Webflow, and the price is the same either way.

Webflow and a full-scratch website compared on five points: how you update, running cost, extensibility, what you own, and who each suits.
Webflow and a full-scratch website (built with AI) compared

If you do not want to give up visual editing, choose Webflow. If you want to hold running costs down and grow the site by adding languages and landing pages, choose a full-scratch build delivered as code. Neither is superior. Webflow itself is explained in What is Webflow?, and what vibe coding means and where it stops is in What is vibe coding?.

We do not publish the process here (it goes out privately)

How we build it is not in this article. Publishing the details invites imitation, and that thins out the value our clients are paying for. The whole process — from AI fundamentals through enterprise-grade builds, security, measurement and running a blog — is in the “corporate AI adoption manual (Japanese)” (official release scheduled for 10 September 2026). Early access goes to newsletter readers only.

On cost | we do not say “it is cheaper because it is AI”

We do not claim that building with AI makes it cheap. As the seven points above show, what we deliver is not a design but a site that is ready to grow, and the machinery behind it. A Webharu full-scratch website build is from ¥1,000,000 (excl. tax), taking about 1.5 to 2 months as a guide (as of 2026, a starting price). We give the final figure after hearing the requirements, and we never change it after work starts.

The full picture on price is on the pricing page, what we actually hand over is in What we actually deliver in an AI website build, and the production process is in The full process of building a site with Claude Code. Start with a free consultation whenever you are ready.

FAQ

What is a full-scratch website?

It is a website designed from zero in Figma without templates and delivered as a full codebase (Astro or Next.js, or Webflow). At Webharu we build SEO, forms and email infrastructure, a CMS, analytics and monitoring into it as one piece, and we build it with AI (Claude Code).

What is the difference between full-scratch and full-stack?

Full-scratch means designing and building a site that presents, from zero. Full-stack means that site plus a working mechanism — member sign-up, bookings, payments, a database and an admin screen — held as one piece. At Webharu, full-scratch starts at ¥1,000,000 and full-stack (Web Application Development) starts at ¥2,500,000 (both excl. tax, as of 2026).

Is it cheaper if you build with AI?

We do not say it is cheaper because it is AI. What we deliver is not a design but a site that is found in search, receives enquiries, can be updated in-house and shows you its numbers, along with the machinery behind it. Full-scratch is from ¥1,000,000 (excl. tax) as a guide. We give the final figure after hearing the requirements, and we never change it after work starts.

Which is better, Webflow or full-scratch?

If you do not want to give up visual editing, Webflow. If you want to hold running costs down after launch and grow the site by adding languages and landing pages, a full-scratch build delivered as code. Full-scratch can also be delivered in Webflow. We assess which one suits you for free.

Where can I read the details of how you build?

They are not in the articles. The whole process, from AI fundamentals through enterprise-grade builds, security, measurement and running a blog, is in the “corporate AI adoption manual” (official release scheduled for 10 September 2026). Early access goes to newsletter readers only.
