- ADDress — what it means
- ADDress is a home subscription service in Japan that lets you live across multiple locations. Members can refer friends, the plan can be changed every month, and tickets can be held for six months (shortened from two years in a 2025 policy change).
Hi, I’m Masato. I spent a year living out of ADDress houses across Japan, and I am still an ADDress member. I am continuing for another full year in 2026.
If I ever cancel, this article goes down with the membership. So if you can read this, the referral code is live. The official terms state that there is no limit on the number of people you can refer, so use it without hesitation.
How the referral works
1. [Referrer] Copy the “friend referral URL” from your My Page and send it to your friend. The friend referral URL contains the referrer’s account ID, so pass it on without editing it.

Note: if you have already joined, or already registered your email address, you cannot receive a referral without registering again from a different email address. Log out first, then register again with a new email from the URL above.

One more important condition: the referral is matched using cookies and JavaScript, so it will not register in incognito or private browsing mode, or with cookies blocked. Open the link in a normal browser window and complete the application in the same session. (This is stated on the official campaign page.)
The amount you receive varies with the price of the plan you join on. To bring your cost per ticket down, the basic play is to join on a large plan first, then switch to a cheaper plan and spend the tickets you hold. Note, though, that tickets now carry over for six months rather than longer, so stay within a number you can use up in six months. The plan can be changed every month. (The 2025 revision cut carry-over from two years to six months.)

The above is an extract from the official ADDress referral program. The amount you receive changes with the price you join on. Claiming a referral takes under a minute, so there is no reason not to. All you do is register from the link below. And if you have a friend who is an ADDress member, being referred by them pays both of you. They will be grateful too, so in that case ask your friend.

Friend referral program: the fine print
- The referral is established when the new member’s first payment completes. Gift cards are sent around the end of the month following the month of that first payment.
- At the moment the new member’s first payment completes, the referrer must be a member, a house keeper or a member of staff.
- If the new member is rejoining, at least one year must have passed since the cancellation date.
- Depending on the terms of other campaigns, the discounts may not be combinable.

- Applications are not accepted after the first payment has completed.

I am a member for the whole of 2026 and have no plans to stop, so use it with confidence. If I leave, I will delete this article along with the membership — so if you can read it, I am still a member.
I asked ADDress directly about the coupon
Q: Can the ADDress coupon still be used after signing up?
A: Yes, if you have not yet used the paid service.
Right after completing my ADDress application and before approval, applying through the campaign page straight away got the coupon discount applied. That is from my own experience. Perhaps the person handling it was simply being kind.
That was two years ago. As of March 2024 the line “applications are not accepted after the first payment has completed” was added. A discount after you have paid is not possible, so take care.
Q: Are there any downsides to using the ADDress coupon?
A: There are none at all.
I actually contacted the ADDress support center and asked whether using the coupon carried any downside or any restriction on the service. The answer was none. In other words, not using the coupon simply costs you money, so make sure you use it.
I started a community for travelers
A conversation that began with “we could do with a community that meets up regularly” led to Tabibito no Wa (the Travelers’ Circle), a Discord community.
I circled Japan with ADDress in 2022, then traveled around Asia and recently moved to Thailand. (2026 update: I am now based in Sendai, running Webharu Inc.)
Meeting so many travelers along the way, the conversation turned to “we could do with a community that meets up regularly” — and that is how the Travelers’ Circle started.
Once we reach 100 members I will hold the first travelers’ meet-up. I plan to put the location to a vote inside the community.
Drawing on the many traveler hubs I have been to myself, the community shares guest houses and gathering spots for travelers in Miyagi, Kyoto, Osaka and Okinawa.
